Hi there, I’m Simone, mama of 3, partner for 22+ years, and certified lactation educator counselor (CLEC). I completed my CLEC certification through UC San Diego and have experience working for WIC, St. Agnes Hospital, facilitating lactation support groups, and providing direct lactation support. I also have a strong human services background in case management, providing community health outreach to underserved communities, anti-recidivism, and more. My focus with Support by Simone, is providing lactation support (non-clinical) and becoming a doula. I am available to offer you prenatal education, postpartum support, and in-hospital visits. My goal is to be approachable in order to make it less stressful when someone wants guidance. I am unbiased with what is comfortable to each person and family; everyone is different, and keeping an open mind and heart steers connections with each other. I strive to be direct in communication, approachable, understanding, and accepting of all backgrounds, gender identities, cultures, and demographics.
Many times, we have an expectation or idea of how something may go before we even land there. Previous experiences may lead us to believe it could be the same way again or even worse. Wait, slow down! Each baby is different, every pregnancy is different, and letting go of this idea (as much as possible) is key to the success of your goals. The best thing is to let go of expectations, and we will find what needs to be done and what type of support to offer in the moment. Having an idea about feeding during pregnancy is the best time to build education, this way there are fewer surprises and more of a grasp on where to get the support and resources when the time comes. As a non-clinical (not an IBCLC) lactation specialist, I do not diagnose, and for anything needing further intervention in a clinical way, referrals would be addressed. I provide latch assistance, lactation counseling, support group facilitation, breast/chestfeeding classes, and more. I also provide tag-along childcare when you need to run errands or attend appointments and do not want to leave your little one at home. I will meet you where you are and stay nearby while you get what you need done.
~Tag-Along Care~
I am offering present childcare by accompanying you wherever you are.
Leaving our little ones at home with a sitter can be scary when you don’t feel completely at ease with it. It can also be very nerve-racking to take a new baby out on your own initially, locating changing, and feeding areas alone, while getting frazzled. I will meet you wherever you are going and be right there to hold your baby, push a stroller, babywear, or just be present. If you are still new to going out with them in this world and don’t want to be alone, I am here to help. It’s like having a set of extra hands around as an optional tool to make whatever you are doing easier and allow you to get that breather without stress.
Doula Services Coming Soon!
I understand that lactation may not be a need of support for everyone. I will be completing a doula training soon with the County of Fresno Public Health Department. I will be offering postpartum doula services solely for all populations/demographic. I will also be offering labor/delivery support specifically for the incarcerated population of women and those in underserved communities. I will be looking to contract with CDCR, City of Visalia, and City of Fresno to service those populations as well as get contracts to serve those with Medi-Cal.
Beautiful is Your Postpartum Body
by Elizabeth Luke
A softness never felt before,
An empty space once full,
Your hips have spread, and blood is shed,
Nothing is ever quite comparable.
Your eyes bare witness to skin stretched and worn,
It’s your pre-baby body your new motherly body mourns.
Milk drips unapologetically from your breasts, this has never happened before,
You gently grasp them and notice, that they are tender and sore.
The tone and definition that once adorned your arms,
Has slowly been replaced with motherly beauty and charm.
Gazing back in the mirror, a strangers eyes you meet,
A stranger in your skin is the strangest you will meet.
Standing in your postpartum body, you gauge the extent of the transformation,
When suddenly you gain acceptance as you experience a revelation.
This stranger soon becomes familiar, a woman you once knew,
A woman whose has grown and stretched to become what she was destined to.
Destine to become a mother, beautiful and true,
In her own postpartum body,
She grew into someone new.
Beautiful Is Your Postpartum Body,
You are beautifully and wonderfully made,
Beautiful is your postpartum body,
Please do not be afraid.
Beautiful Is Your Postpartum Body,
It grew,
And it changed,
And it birthed.
Embrace your beautiful postpartum body,
Let your radiating light shine through,
For when you accept what you have become you will be renewed.
